Wiom
Entrepreneur in Residence - Defi Protocol Architecture
At Wiom, I served as an Entrepreneur in Residence in 2022, focusing on DeFi protocol architecture and blockchain technology to support the company’s mission of democratizing WiFi access across India. My role encompassed a variety of responsibilities, from leading the blockchain team to developing innovative network architectures and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Leading the Blockchain Team:
One of my primary responsibilities at Wiom was to lead the blockchain team. This involved recruiting and mentoring team members, setting project goals, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality blockchain solutions. I coordinated closely with developers, designers, and other stakeholders to create a cohesive and productive work environment. My leadership helped foster a culture of innovation and collaboration within the team, enabling us to tackle complex technical challenges effectively.
Smart Contract Development:
I spearheaded the development of smart contracts, which are fundamental to Wiom’s decentralized finance (DeFi) initiatives. These smart contracts automated various processes, such as peer-to-peer transactions, and ensured that they were secure, efficient, and transparent. I worked on designing and implementing these contracts to handle everything from user authentication to transaction validation, ensuring they met the highest standards of security and performance.
Protocol Architecture:
In my role, I was responsible for creating the network architecture for a peer-to-peer public WiFi network using the PM-WANI (Public WiFi Access Network Interface) framework. This framework, introduced by the Indian government, aimed to enhance internet accessibility across the country by allowing the creation of public WiFi hotspots. I designed a decentralized protocol that leveraged blockchain technology to facilitate secure and efficient connectivity among these hotspots. This involved developing algorithms for network optimization, data privacy, and user authentication.
Product Development and Innovation:
I played a key role in the overall product development process, from ideation to deployment. This involved identifying user needs, conceptualizing product features, and working closely with the development team to bring these features to life. One of the significant projects I worked on was creating a decentralized application (DApp) that allowed users to access and manage their WiFi connections seamlessly. This DApp integrated various blockchain functionalities to provide a secure, user-friendly experience.
Peer-to-Peer Network Implementation:
Implementing a peer-to-peer network required innovative solutions to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. I developed a decentralized protocol that enabled WiFi routers to communicate directly with each other, reducing dependency on centralized servers and improving network resilience. This architecture facilitated efficient bandwidth sharing and load balancing, enhancing the overall user experience.
User Engagement and Community Building:
Understanding the importance of community in the success of decentralized projects, I actively engaged with users and stakeholders to gather feedback and improve our offerings. I organized workshops, webinars, and community events to educate users about the benefits of decentralized WiFi and how to use our platform effectively. These initiatives helped build a strong, engaged user base and fostered a sense of community around Wiom’s mission.
